Independent Safeguarding Audit 2026
The Church of England have commissioned the INEQE Safeguarding Group to conduct Independent Safeguarding Audits of the Church of England to make sure dioceses and cathedrals are doing all they can to create environments where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.
They of course are wanting to hear feedback from the Church community to comment on any matters relevant to safeguarding.
Below are links explaining everything for our congregation and access to the survey online.

We know not everyone is comfortable with online usage so Alberta and Yvonne (our Safeguarding Officers) have arranged to hold a focus group which will take place on the 29th March after Church, 11:15 for a prompt 11:30 start in St John's Church hall. We will have hardcopies which anyone from the congregation can complete anonymously. Completed surveys will be put in an envelope and submitted to INEQE directly.
The Survey will close on 8th April at 11:30pm.
Please speak to Alberta or Yvonne if you have any queries.
Why does safeguarding matter in a Christian community?
St John the Baptist works to provide a safe environment for the whole Church family, especially children and adults at risk. We aim to be a place where children and young people are nurtured and protected; and where all people, and especially those who may be vulnerable for any reason, are able to worship and pursue their faith journey with encouragement and in safety.
We follow the national legal and procedural framework for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, and Church of England policy and practice.
